Our Story

The Ring Pop Proposal

Like many modern love stories, ours begins with the internet. And like many modern love stories, it’s slightly awkward to explain. So depending on who you ask, we met online… or through mutual friends. Both are technically true, and both sound better than saying “the algorithm knew what it was doing.”

Jessica and Luke met in 2022 during a time when life was, let’s just say, not exactly calm, peaceful, or wrapped in a Pinterest quote. Neither of them knew it then, but they were about to become each other’s plot twist. What started as casual conversation quickly turned into a solid friendship. They became each other’s person. The one you text first. The one who shows up. The one who reminds you that maybe everything isn’t falling apart, it’s just falling into place.

They stood beside each other through life’s harder chapters, cheering each other on, calling each other out when needed, and slowly building something neither of them expected but both of them needed.

By December 2023, they decided to move in together. They each brought their own luggage. Not the expensive kind. Not the coordinated, adult-looking kind. More like emotional carry-ons, a few duffel bags of life lessons, and at least one metaphorical trash bag held together with hope. Jess also brought her two amazing kids, and Luke stepped into their lives without hesitation. He didn’t just become Jess’s partner, he became family. He quickly earned the title of bonus dad, jungle gym, snack provider, and all-around hero in their eyes.

Then came Christmas 2024.

Jess and Luke share a mutual love for the Deadpool cinematic universe, so it was only fitting that Luke proposed in a way that perfectly balanced sincerity and humor. He got down on one knee holding a Ring Pop, while the real ring stayed hidden in his pocket like a proper plot twist. It was quiet, simple, and perfectly them. Just the two of them in the middle of Christmas morning chaos, with the kids nearby playing with their new toys, completely unaware that their family was leveling up in real time.

Jess said yes. Obviously.

What started as two people surviving life turned into two people building one. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, healing, and just enough sarcasm to keep things interesting.

Turns out, the algorithm really did know what it was doing.

And this is only the beginning. ❤️

Wedding Party

Matron of Honor

Picture of Matron of Honor

Kristen- Jess’s sister, lifelong partner-in-crime, and the only person who truly understands that sometimes being a sibling is equal parts chaos and unconditional love. Jess met Kristen in 1993… and, full disclosure, didn’t like her at first. Being an only child is a hard habit to break!

Fast forward a few decades, and these two are inseparable. They tell each other literally everything, have each other’s backs, and share a bond that’s equal parts laughter, tears, and inside jokes no one else will ever get. Basically, she’s the sister every sister dreams of… even if you fought over toys and who got the last slice of pizza.

Think of her as the “Hermione to my Harry,” the “Olivia to my Meredith,” or the person who will make sure Jess doesn’t trip on her dress while also wrangling our gaggle of kids. She’s not just the matron of honor—she’s the keeper of secrets, the laughter in the chaos, and the sister who proves that the best friends you choose can sometimes be the ones you’re born with.

Maid of Honor (Junior)

Shelby: Jess’s daughter, tiny actress, and official mini best friend. She may be small, but her personality is larger than life—funny, talented, and ready to steal hearts (and maybe the spotlight) wherever she goes.

As Maid of Honor, Shelby’s duties include making sure Mom laughs, sprinkling charm everywhere, and proving that you don’t need height to have a huge presence. She’s the perfect mix of sass, sweetness, and stage-ready confidence—basically a tiny superhero in a sparkly dress.

Best Man

Tyler: Luke’s brother, lifelong partner-in-mischief, and the guy who doesn’t just enter a room—he owns it. From childhood antics to adult shenanigans, he’s been stealing the spotlight for years, and now he’s doing it officially as Best Man.

His duties include delivering a speech that’s equal parts hilarious and unforgettable, keeping everyone laughing, and making sure the room never forgets he’s there. Tyler’s energy is contagious, his laugh is impossible to ignore, and he’s proof that sometimes the loudest voices carry the most love.

Groomsman (Junior)

Jackson: The first boy to completely steal Jess’s heart, master of charm, and Hot Wheels enthusiast extraordinaire. Quiet most of the time—but don’t let that fool you. When he’s plotting, joking, or racing his cars, everyone knows something epic is happening.

As Junior Groomsman, Jackson’s main responsibilities include looking ridiculously cute in a suit, showing off his naturally hilarious personality, and reminding everyone that even the tiniest humans can have the biggest impact. Warning: he may silently judge your dance moves.

Mother of Bride

Shirley- Proud mother of the bride and the woman who somehow managed to survive every phase of raising a daughter while keeping her sense of humor mostly intact. She is equal parts loving, strong, supportive, and wonderfully opinionated when necessary. Shirley has spent years giving advice, solving problems before anyone else notices them, and reminding everyone to bring “call me when you get there and take lots of pictures.” Known for her big heart, quick wit, and ability to keep a family running through both chaos and celebration, she has been one of the biggest influences in her daughter’s life.

Mother of Groom

Mel- Proud mother of the groom and the original architect of his good manners, questionable jokes, and surprisingly decent life choices. She is known for her big heart, strong opinions delivered with love, and an impressive ability to be the loudest in the room. She has always been her son’s biggest supporter, cheerleader, and occasional reality check, depending on the day. Watching him start this new chapter with someone he loves brings her immense joy (and only a mild amount of emotional overthinking).

Ring Bearer

James- Nephew of the bride, he brings a sweet, gentle presence to the wedding party and takes his important role with calm seriousness (even if he’s not saying much about it). He is a very special little gentleman—quiet, shy, and absolutely adorable. He may be soft-spoken, but his little steps down the aisle carry a whole lot of love with them. We are so lucky to have him as part of this day, adding a touch of innocence, sweetness, and quiet magic to the celebration

Flower Girl

Olivia- Jess’ niece and the youngest of the crew. She shows up with full main-character energy. Beautiful, sassy, and absolutely unstoppable when she decides she’s right, she’s here to sprinkle petals and a little bit of personality down the aisle. She loves to twirl, pose, and make sure everyone is watching (and honestly, they usually are). With every step, she brings charm, confidence, and just the right amount of attitude to keep things interesting. We wouldn’t want it any other way.

Q + A

What is the dress code?

Dress Code: Casual (a.k.a. “look cute, but don’t overthink it”) Wear something comfortable, something you won’t regret in photos, and something you can survive a buffet in. This is a casual wedding, not a royal coronation, so no need for tuxes, ball gowns, or anything that requires a personal assistant to zip you in.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 20–30 minutes early. This gives you time to find a seat, hug someone you haven’t seen since flip phones were cool, and avoid doing the awkward late walk.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Absolutely. The more the merrier however, we do ask you RSVP for the number of people that will be coming.

Are kids welcome?

Yes! Our favorite tiny humans will be there. We love your kids and can’t wait to see their dance moves outshine everyone else’s.

Where should I park?

Parking will be available at the venue. Follow the signs, or the sound of laughter and questionable dance moves.

Will there be food and nonalcoholic drinks?

Yes. Come hungry. Leave happy. Possibly loosen a belt notch.

What’s the couple most excited about?

Marrying each other, celebrating with the people we love most, and finally not having to say “my fiancé” anymore.

Who proposed?

Luke did, during Christmas 2024, with a Ring Pop first, because obviously. The real ring followed shortly after. Romance level: expert with a side of comedy.

Will there be dancing?

Yes. Enthusiastic dancing. Questionable dancing. Possibly legendary dancing.

How did you meet?

Like many modern love stories, it started online… and somehow turned into forever. Proof that sometimes the internet gives you more than just weird ads and conspiracy theories.

How did you know this was “End Game”?

Somewhere between the laughter, the shared love of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and realizing neither of us had run away yet, it became pretty obvious this was forever.

Why a Ring Pop?

Because Luke knows the way to Jess’s heart includes humor, nostalgia, and snacks. Also because channeling Deadpool energy felt appropriate. Maximum effort.
